The Mirror of Her Dreams - Cover

The Mirror of Her Dreams

This series, Mordant’s Need, is my favorite story. I’ve read it multiple times, and have multiple copies of it sitting around the house and one on my Kindle. I have a particular fondness for the extra escapism of fantasy involving people from Earth.

The Time of the Dark - Cover

The Time of the Dark

The Darwath series takes us to a world nearing collapse, pulling me in through the characters snatched from Earth. I love this series, and you’re going to see me recommend some other books from Barbara Hambly.

The Silent Tower - Cover

The Silent Tower

More Barbara Hambly! And yes, another one where the authoer pulls someone over from Earth. I love the relationship between Joanna and Antryg, and Hambly’s universes on the brink of collapse always intrique me

The Fragments - Cover

The Fragments

Minu Freitag’s first book took me on a nastalgic tour of my own reading (and gaming) past. I took a chance on this book based on how much her IG posts hit elements that drew me in. I wasn’t disappointed!

Author Edith Pawlicki

Edith is an indie author who I would consider my Best Writer Friend (BWF? Apparently that’s already taken by the Badminton World Federation, so I’ve undoubtedly confused you all with that common reference). She also writes fantasy, but with much more focus on the relationships (not to say there isn’t a non-relationship problem to be solved). She and her husband make board games in our genre. I’ll display a few of her books here. She also has some mugs in the Magiporium — Boot Loot!

Fiction Fans Podcast

My favorite podcast - they review fantasy and sci-fi. both old and new, mostly books, but with occasional “other” episodes thrown in. I can’t explain why these two hooked me when so many others did not, but I really enjoy listening to their banter.
